Our Mission
The sole purpose of Huntsman Cancer Foundation is to raise funds to support the mission of Huntsman Cancer Institute. Huntsman Cancer Institute’s mission is to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education about cancer risk, prevention, and care. Thanks to the ongoing generosity of the Jon M. Huntsman Family, 100% of funds raised go directly to fueling groundbreaking cancer research.
About Huntsman Cancer Institute
Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah is a nationally recognized research center and treatment hospital in Salt Lake City. We serve patients with all types of cancer, and they come from throughout the Mountain West, including Utah and parts of Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Wyoming. Along with our four locations in Utah, mobile cancer-screening service, telemedicine, and our Huntsman at Home™ program, we partner with a network of regional affiliate hospitals. These hospitals work with our experts to provide specialty cancer care to their patients.
Huntsman Cancer Institute operates the only Phase I clinical cancer research program in the region. This includes approximately 325 clinical trials open to patients.
Our doctors and scientists include world-renowned experts who are dedicated to the highest-quality standards and driven by the commitment to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
Why Support Huntsman Cancer Institute
With management of the Utah Population Database (UPDB), Huntsman Cancer Institute houses the world’s largest repository of health and genealogic records in the world. More genes for inherited cancers have been discovered here than at any other cancer center. These include genes responsible for breast, ovarian, colon, head and neck cancers, melanoma, and more.
We stand on the precipice of breakthroughs that will radically change cancer treatment and eventually prevent cancer altogether. Our researchers and doctors are at the forefront of discoveries concerning the genetic risks of cancer and the best ways to treat and prevent it.
